James Raymond Cowling Foundation Scholarship
If you have made a significant contribution to your chapter, or the Best Buddies program, you may be eligible for some financial support for your education.
At Best Buddies we understand the hard work and dedication made by our Student Buddies and recognize the central role they play to our program.
To recognize the efforts of our exceptional volunteers we are offering scholarships to assist Peer Buddies and Buddies with their post-secondary education, open to students in their final year of high school and those already at university or college.
The James Raymond Cowling University & College Scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a successful Peer Buddy or Buddy involved in a university or college chapter. The James Raymond Cowling High School Scholarship of $500, will be presented to a Peer Buddy or Buddy, in their final year of High School, preparing to begin post-secondary education.
To be considered applicants should:
- Be involved with Best Buddies for at least one year
- Have made a notable contribution to their chapter, or the larger Best Buddies program, either through raising awareness, fundraising, supporting Buddy friendships in their school, attending Best Buddies special events, assisting with special events or fundraisers, or any other worthy contribution
2016 Scholarship Winners
Congratulations to the winners of the 2015-2016 James Raymond Cowling Foundation Scholarships: Vrinda Munjal and Abhinav Bhatnagar.
High School- Abhinav Bhatnagar
Abhinav Bhatnagar was awarded the $500 scholarship for his dedication to promoting inclusion at Father Michael Goetz Secondary School. Abhinav has been very involved with Best Buddies for the past four years and exemplifies what this friendship program is all about. According to staff at his school, he is a positive role model for other students, an exemplary citizen and has made a positive contribution to his community at large. Keep up the good work!
University- Vrinda Munjal
Vrinda Munjal was awarded the $1000 scholarship due to her dedicated involvement with Best Buddies at the University of British Columbia. This talented leader has been with Best Buddies for six years and her amazing work to make the University of British Columbia chapter as accessible and inclusive as possible has resulted in the club winning the Award for Commitment to Diversity. Great job Vrinda!
