Fall is one of the best seasons. Not only does it coincide with the start of the school year and a new Best Buddies Canada program year, but it’s also a great time to reconnect and strengthen friendships. There are lots of seasonal activities in fall that you can do with a few friends or one-on-one with your Buddy. Here are a few suggestions.
Pumpkin Carving: Carving pumpkins is a classic fall activity. You and your buddy can go and pick out pumpkins together, either from a store or from a pumpkin patch. Look up some fun templates online or come up with your own creative designs and start carving!
Apple Picking: Apples are perfectly in season during the fall, so make sure you visit an apple orchard before the weather gets too cold! It’s a great opportunity to get to know your buddy as you pick apples. You can even turn them into caramel apples or a homemade pie afterwards.
Nature Walks: The leaves are changing colour which makes it the perfect time to go for a nature walk. Explore some trails and get some fresh air with your buddy. You can also collect colourful leaves or pine cones for future craft projects.
Watch a Movie: A less active – but equally fun activity – is to watch some seasonal movies! There are great classic fall films and family-friendly Halloween movies to watch with your buddy. Set up a ton of blankets and pillows, make some popcorn, and sip on a hot chocolate or apple cider to make this activity extra cozy.
Host a Game Night: Invite your buddy or a group of friends over to play some games! You can play board games like Monopoly, use cards for Crazy Eights or Go Fish, or use your imaginations for Pictionary or Charades. Playing games with your friends is a great way to open up and get to know them better.
