About the Program

Best Buddies Canada's Transition Pilot Program aims to assist students with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) to better navigate the transition out of high school and helps to provide pathways to success.

Transition can be a stressful time for students especially for those with an IDD—through our program, we will make the process clearer while providing new learning opportunities for participants!

Phase 1
In School Workshops with buddies and peer buddies. The workshops introduce the transition process through fun activities and games.

Phase 2

A Transition Fair that provides an opportunity for individuals and their families to interact with service providers, educational/vocational institutions, and employers to gain information that will help students with their transition after graduating from high school.

Phase 3
Best Buddies will connect participants with community partners to build valuable work/life skills that will help with their transition.  In partnership with community agencies we are developing a week long day program for individuals with an IDD, where they will receive life skills training that will help them on their path to a successful transition out of high school.
