About the Program

Best Buddies Canada's is proud to announce the launch of its new Transition Pilot Program that aims to assist students with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) to better navigate the transition out of high school and helps to provide a pathway to success.

Transition can be a stressful time for students especially for those with an IDD—through our program, we will make the process clearer while providing new learning opportunities to participants!

Phase 1
In School Workshop with buddies and peer buddies. The workshop will introduce the transition process through fun activities and games.

Phase 2
Key Transition Sessions held across the GTA. Potential topics covered include: navigating transit in GTA, hygiene, self-promotion, how to prepare for an interview etc.

Parent Workshops will also be held across the GTA on a variety of topics that may include: filling out disability forms, how to discuss transition with your child etc.

Phase 3
Best Buddies will connect participants with community partners to gain valuable volunteer and work experiences.
